The Wonderful Weird Deerhoof Will Cuddly Rock You To Death

November 3, 2004
Deerhoof are not normal. They sing about bunnies and stuff. Weird. Maybe it has something to do with being from San Francisco. I mean, a lot of crazies live there, right? Not that I've been, but that Rice-a-Roni guy sure creeps me out. But weirdos have a tendency to rock, and Deerhoof is by no means an exception. Let's call them weirdly wonderful. Cuddly and chaotic, bubbly and bruising, Deerhoof receive inspiration from sound rather than structure. Their music teeters on electric self-destruction with only the faintest traces of a musical spine, yet it works. Be prepared to see plenty of hopping on stage from lead singer Satomi Matsuzaki. Weird people seem to like to hop. I mean, how weird is Tigger? He's friends with a bear and a donkey.

Deerhoof play Knitting Factory, Wednesday, November 3rd, at 6:30pm AND 10:00pm
