There is lots of musical goodness to see this week.

You know what they say.

March comes in lame and goes out with some serious show game.

Someone says that. I'm sure of it.

20 Good Shows To See in NYC This Week

March 27 - April 2nd / 2017 A.D.

1. Teenage Fanclub play Warsaw on Monday, March 27th (tickets).

Did you miss this swirling Scottish goodness when this band was first blowing up back the '90s? That's OK. It happens. Maybe you weren't even born yet. Don't beat yourself up about it.

Please start here with this classic album and get caught up real fast.

2. The Japanese House play Bowery Ballroom on Tuesday, March 28th (tickets).

The Japanese House is Amber Bain. She lives in Camden which is a borough in London which is not a city in Japan.

She makes dream pop with blissed out beats and warm synths and glittering guitars providing the intense melodic uplift.

Blast this and you will soar high where only the boldest of bald eagles dare fly to a chilled out land.

3. Jay Som play Baby's All Right on Wednesday, March 29th (tickets).

Jay Som is the lush DIY post ____ pop project of San Francisco's Melina Duterte.

Think indie pop meets shoegaze meets psych meets a little surf maybe meets good music and you should be on the right track.

4. The Menzingers play Irving Plaza on Thursday, March 30th (tickets).

The weirdest thing happened to me last week. I listened to the entire Menzingers discography on repeat and found myself in a good mood for like the entire day.

Go to this show if you don't wanna be an asshole anymore.

5. Lambchop play Bowery Ballroom on Thursday, March 30th (tickets).

This Nashville band has been slinging the post alt country soul* goodness since the early '90s.

They also put out two of my favorite back-to-back album titles ever. 1994's Aw Cmon and No You Cmon.

Go see Lambchop if you're the type that likes going to see good bands.

*no idea what post alt country soul means, I thought you did

6. Baths play House of Yes on Thursday, March 30th (tickets).

Best beats ever, man.

Please enjoy this classic cover cut.

7. Weyes Blood play Music Hall of Williamsburg on Thursday, March 30th (tickets).

Natalie Mering is Weyes Blood.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM.

It's dope as folk.

(go to this show, seriously tho)

8. Waxahatchee play WFMU Monty Hall on Thursday, March 30th (tickets) and Friday, March 31st (tickets).

If you don't know Waxahatchee rules by now you ain't never done gonna know -- unless you listen the excellent album I so conveniently provided for your streaming pleasure below - it's goodness should be pretty apparent to even the newest of listeners.

Kevin Morby also playing both of these shows. He rules too.

Totally worth going to Jersey City.

9. King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard play Webster Hall on Friday, March 31st (tickets) and Saturday, April 1st (tickets).

These are two of the most popular upcoming shows on the entire blob.

Come join these Australian expats on a cosmic journey through physical space and socially constructed time.

It'll be a chill trip.

10. Nonesuch Celebration at BAM on Saturday, April 1st (tickets).

A bunch of legends are celebrating a legendary record label (born 1964 A.D.).

Philip Glass, Kronos Quartet, Steve Reich, Dawn Upshaw (we went to the same high school NBD), Laurie Anderson, Stephin Merritt, Devendra Banhart, Mandy Patinkin and more!

Considering the all-star cast of hall-of-fame musicians, it's hard to pick just one video to post for this show but I think I feel pretty comfortable using this one.

Rounding Out The Top Twenty:

11. Richard Ashcroft at Terminal 5

12. Minus the Bear at Webster Hall

13. Wax Idols at Brooklyn Night Bazaar

14. Buke and Gase at Union Pool

15. Touche Amore at Saint Vitus

16. Thao at The Bell House

17. Aldous Harding at Rough Trade

18. Vince Staples at Terminal 5

19. The Blow at The Kitchen

20. Six Organs of Admittance at Union Pool

A pretty chill week, right?

I thought so!

See you out there, yo.
