10 Great Shows To See in NYC This Week

February 13th - February 19th 2017 A.D.

1. Valentine's Day benefit for Planned Parenthood at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Tuesday, February 14th.

Lots of good peeps playing this one for a real good cause.

Reigning Sound + Eleanor Friedberger + Delicate Steve + Cult of Youth + Frankie Rose + Kid Congo + Cassie Ramone + more!

Go spread the love.❤︎❤︎

(more upcoming benefit shows)

2. Future Islands playing a last minute announced show at Bowery Ballroom on Tuesday, February 14th.

Sold out already.

Sorry.

I didn't do it. I just blob here.

(some tickets may be available here)

3. Tancred headlines Alphaville on Thursday, February 16th (tickets).

Tancred is the indie power rock project of Minneapolis' Jess Abbott (of Now, Now).

Think '90s alternative meets the dopeness of today.

(Vasudeva also play this show. Their new album is really good.)

4. Meat Wave play Baby's All Right on Thursday, February 16th (tickets).

Speaking of new albums that rule, Chicago rock / rollers Meat Wave have a brand new record coming out soon.

Spoiler: it rules.

5. Ryan Adams plays the Apollo Theater on Thursday, February 16th (tickets) and two shows at Rough Trade on Saturday, February 18th (early show / late show).

This week I learned that Ryan Adam and Bryan Adams have the same birthday.

Life can be pretty great sometimes.

6. The Orwells play a free show at Rough Trade on Thursday, February 16th.

Midwest garage rock isn't dead. The car was running and the door was closed for awhile there but thankfully The Orwells came and kicked it open just in time.

See this dope Chicago band play a free show at Rough Trade (need to purchase the album at Rough Trade first... here are the details) and never feel sad about anything ever again.

7. Sinkane plays Bowery Ballroom on Friday, February 17th (tickets).

Please note: Sinkane is the CHILLEST.

Go if you like beats, grooves, good music, and s-e-x.

8. Screaming Females play WFMU Monty Hall on Friday, February 17th (tickets) and Saturday, February 18th (tickets).

One of New Jersey's finest DIY punk bands play two shows at Monty Hall in Jersey City. Get out there if you know what's up.

This band rules. That's how New Brunswick do!

9. Moon Hooch play Brooklyn Bowl on Saturday, February 18th (tickets).

Best sax of your life.

10. DISRUPT w/ Sufjan Stevens, Jan St. Werner (Mouse on Mars), Kid Millions (Oneida), Benamin Lanz (Beirut / The National) at National Sawdust on Saturday, February 18th (tickets).

This is a creative “artist + audience" collaboration. DISRUPT is about “taking risks, causing reactions, triggering emotions and finding the present together."

Cool. Just tell me where to stand, Sufjan.

Other notable NYC shows this week = Future Islands at Bowery Ballroom + PWR BTTM at Knitting Factory + Gang of Youths at Mercury Lounge + Oh Land at National Sawdust + Ex Reyes at C'mon Everybody + Teen Daze at Silent Barn + Palm at Shea Stadium + Laura Mvula at Lincoln Center + Lemuria / Cayetana at Brooklyn Night Bazaar + Jamie Lidell at Lincoln Center + XXYYXX at Warsaw

Have fun at the good shows!
