Written by Patrick McNamara

Let's talk about some good shows happening in NYC this weekend.

And let's have a good goddamn time doing so.

Thursday - September 29, 2016 A.D.

Post ___ noise punks HEALTH play Market Hotel. (SHOW INFO // TICKETS)

This band is GOOD for you.

Champaign, IL's Poster Children play Saint Vitus (their first NYC show in approximately a million years). One of the more underrated quiet/loud bands post ____ grunge bands of the '90s. You can count on that. (SHOW INFO // TICKETS)

Listen to this song if you need more proof and next time maybe you'll just believe this blob the first time.

All Dogs / Mannequin Pussy / Katie Ellen lead a DOPE (punk pop)(pop punk) lineup at Silent Barn. (SHOW INFO // TICKETS)

Go if you like good.

Jerry Seinfeld plays Beacon Theater. Cool cool cool. (SHOW INFO // TICKETS)

But anyway, did you read the Seinfeld "9/11" spec script that's been going around?

You should. It rules.

Other notable Thursday shows = Diet Cig at Knitting Factory + Bear vs. Shark at Bowery Ballroom + Janelle Monae at Central Park Summerstage (free)

French electronic master Yuksek plays Baby's All Right. (SHOW INFO // TICKETS)

This is my favorite Yuksek song.

Do I care that it's now six years old?

I do not.

And in case you want to hear a totally boss remix why don't you blast this one too.

Lower Dens (please note: this Baltimore band led by Jana Hunter rules) play Pioneer Works in Red Hook. Guess what street Pioneer Works is on? Pioneer Street! Wonderful! It works! I love it! (SHOW INFO // TICKETS)

I'm running on empty.

Wait. What wave of emo are we living in these days? I keep losing track. Taking Back Sunday play Irving Plaza and there's no "I" in "blob." You Blew It! opens this show. I'm a fan. Pretty sure Robert DeNiro is too. (SHOW INFO // TICKETS)
