((The Subjects)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

Brooklyn's The Subjects have been at it for a few years now, and I'm surprised we haven't written kind words about them before. What's our problem? We've seen them play a few times in small spaces and they've always been great. Their sets are full of snappy pop melodies and they have a crooner for a singer.

We've left their shows thinking that this toe-tapping and easy-going eccentro-pop is just as good as someone like Vampire Weekend's pop. So why not give them a shout-out?

Granted, we aren't the only guilty party. I mean, why hasn't The New Yorker ever profiled The Subjects, like it did Vampire Weekend? Tell me that, Mr. David Remnick? The Subjects sort of sound like Paul Simon too, all you tastemakers! Vampire Weekend isn't the only "Graceland" band around, don't you know.

Well, maybe The Subjects just like it a little more lo-pro. But if you are looking for your next breezy sing-a-long band that isn't selling out Hammerstein, or Auditorium Theater, or Hollywood Bowl, or wherever, check out these guys.
