((Guillemots)) Band Profile and Upcoming New York City Concerts - Oh My Rockness

London's Guillemots are an extremely radio friendly band that plays joyfully eclectic eccentro-pop sounding like Antony & the Johnsons meets Dexy's Midnight Runners (you know... that "Come On, Eileen" song). The quartet comes complete with several keyboards and huge horn and string sections. Lo-fi this ain't.

Vocalist Fyfe Dangerfield is a regular crooner, slipping and sliding all over these chamber pop notes with earnest gumption. Guillemots are certainly not for everyone (slowly back away, spazz fans), as some of these horn solos (that's right, horn "solos") are rather unfortunate. But the music is certainly festive. Guillemots bring a sound that is glitzy and grand... perhaps that's why they recently went on tour with Rufus Wainwright.
